Peter Sprague was eight when his family moved from Cleveland to Del Mar, where surfing and music became, as he puts it, his life and religion. Though I hate to admit it, I don’t really like surf music, he says. Sprague picked up the guitar at age 12, studying with San Diego jazz guitarist Bill Coleman. He turned to jazz and formed the Minor Jazz Quintet with like-minded schoolmates. When we played gigs, we had to legally stay on the stage during breaks to keep the ABC from busting the club for minors roaming in an over-21 environment. His 2015 album Dream Walkin’ was recorded with frequent collaborator Leonard Patton. Sprague and Randy Phillips released a collaborative album in August 2018, Sparks and Seeds.

Peter Tripp Sprague (born October 11, 1955) is an American jazz guitarist, record producer, and audio engineer. He owns SpragueLand Studios and the label SBE Records. He invented a twin-neck guitar with one neck from a classical guitar and one from a steel-string acoustic guitar. Sprague studied with guitarist Pat Metheny, Madame Chaloff, and classical guitarist Albin Czak, and has played with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Larry Coryell, David Benoit, and Sergio Mendes.

Bang the Drum is the fifth studio album by South African Afropop band Mango Groove. Released in September 2009, it was the band's first studio album since Eat a Mango in 1995. Lead singer Claire Johnston told an interviewer that the band wanted to produce "a 'roots' albu. nfused wit. ontemporary influences". Two of the songs, she said, represent two aspects of Mango Groove: "Hey" has the "fun, pennywhistle party sound", and "Belong" (a song about being South African) shows a "more introspective side".
