Steve Winwood returned to the feel of his Traffic years on 'Refugees of the Heart,' released on Nov. 6, 1990. After a relatively low-key first decade as a solo artist, Steve Winwood ended the '80s on a multi-platinum streak, scoring huge hits with a pair of albums that found him making some of the most radio-friendly music from a career that already included an impressive catalog of classics. Yet even while he racked up Top 40 singles and Grammys with 1986's Back in the High Life and 1988's Roll With It, Winwood faced criticism from fans and pundits who felt he'd forgotten his roots - particularly after Michelob rolled out an ad campaign based around "Don't You Know What.
Refugees of the Heart is the sixth solo studio album by Steve Winwood, released in 1990. The album contained the hit single, "One and Only Man", which topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and saw the return of former Traffic bandmate Jim Capaldi to Winwood's songwriting team. By coincidence, a Traffic reunion followed in 1994. Because of that collaboration, Winwood would not record another solo album until late 1997.

Steve Winwood is the debut solo studio album by blue-eyed soulster Steve Winwood. It was released in 1977, three years after the break-up of his former band, Traffic. Though the album sold moderately well in the US, it was a commercial disappointment compared to Traffic's recent albums, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard 200 album chart. In the UK, however, while Traffic's recent albums had only been moderately successful, Steve Winwood reached number 12 on The Official Charts.

After he dashed the extravagant expectations built up by his group years with the disappointing debut album Steve Winwood, he came back with the stunning Arc Of A Diver. Then he disappointed again with Talking Back To The Night, only to come back strong again with Back In The High Life. With that track record, Roll With It should have been another flop, but it turned out to be a good followup. It was Refugees Of The Heart that was Winwood 's next letdown.
