Show Of Hands are England’s most successful acoustic roots duo – Steve Knightley and Phil Beer. Their widespread appeal is based on the combined power of Steve’s original songs, the quality of their vocals and harmonies, and their multi-instrumental virtuosity. Their performances feature guitars, mandocello, fiddle, cuatro, viola and concertina. In 2003 they were nominated as both ‘Best Group’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the Radio 2 Folk Awards. Country Life is their most ambitious and exciting project to date. Lie of the Land is Show of Hands’ second studio album featuring ‘The Preacher’, ‘Captains’ and ‘Exile’. Produced in 1995, engineered and mixed by Gerard O’ Farrell, the album features Sarah Allen on whistle, Matt Clifford on piano and keyboards and Nick Scott on pipes. Voted ‘Q’ magazine ‘Folk Album of the Year’ in 1997.

Metallica played their acoustic set titled All Within My Hands Helping Hands Concert & Auction at The Masonic in San Francisco, CA on November 3 to benefit their All Within My Hands charity. The rare acoustic set from the band will now be released as a double LP titled Helping Hand. ive & Acoustic At The Masonic on February 1, with all the proceeds also going to All Within My Hands. The live album was mixed by Greg Fidelman and mastered for vinyl by Reuben Cohen, and features Metallica classics alongside covers of Deep Purple, Nazareth, Bob Seger and Blue Öyster Cult

NotesEngland's foremost acoustic duo Show Of Hands present the Acoustic Workshop, a unique insight into the arrangements, instruments and techniques that have made Steve Knightley and Phil Beer a leading force on the folk/roots music scene. The 80-minute video is illustrated with observations, anecdotes and advising about the writing, arranging and performing of different styles of acoustic music. Steve and Phil also demonstrate the sound and texture of a wide variety of instruments including the mandoline, cuatro, fiddle, cello-mandolin, and guitar amongst others.
Recorded in February 1996 during the highly successful workshop tour that preceeded their ground-breaking appearance at Lodon's Royal Albert Hall. Filmed at Chapel Platt, Topsham, Devon.
