The Stones' most downbeat, druggy album, with new guitarist Mick Taylor stretching into jazz and country. Key Track: "Brown Sugar" was the big hit, but "Sway" is one of the band's spookiest pro-evil anthems. Best Keith Moment: His guitar battle with Taylor throughout "Bitch. Out of Our Heads’ (1965). Their great R&B album – by now the Stones could write their own classics as well as pick them. Mick struts through the grooves with a sullen edge of seduction, his voice dripping with sex, while Keith and Brian keep hitting new twin-guitar highs. Key Track: "Satisfaction" – if they quit the day after they cut this, they'd still be legends.
The best album list includes records from the 1950s through today and include the best in rock, rap, jazz, r&b and more. What makes this list different is that it compiles and aggregates data from other best of lists, including both critics lists such as Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums books and fan polls such as Q magazine’s 100 Greatest Albums Ever poll. The goal of this list to find not only the greatest albums of all time but also the most influential and culturally significant albums as well, so in addition to just the opinions of critics and fans to compile the list other metrics where used as well such as Billboard chart statistics, RIAA sales figures and several others to help determine the final.
The Rolling Stones, from left to right: Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Photograph: PR handout. 11. Rolling Stones No 2 (1965). The early 60s blues scene was a purists’ movement, but their second album demonstrates how eclectic and boundary-blurring the early Stones were, boldly defining a space of their own somewhere between blues, rock’n’roll and soul, amping up the pace and the attitude of each to thrilling effect. 10. Blue & Lonesome (2016). At the point where even the most committed fan despaired of them ever making an unequivocally great album again, they did. You could ask why they didn’t return sooner to the blues songs that first inspired them, but the passing of time gives Blue & Lonesome its power. With a lifetime of experience behind them, the Stones sounded as if they really knew of what they sung.

It's great that The Stones have gone back to their blues roots. One of best albums from 2016. For me it is the most interesting Rolling Stones album.
Over the fifty years of their existence, the Rolling Stones have only released 22 studio albums in the UK, but within this catalogue can be found some of the most influential, game-changing and iconic recordings of the rock ‘n’ roll er. Continental Drift, their last great sonic experiment (featuring, with no little historic significance, the Brian Jones-favoured Master Musicians Of Jajouka) passed almost unnoticed, while the album’s three accompanying singles all failed to make the UK top thirty. 23) Bridges To Babylon (1997). As non-album hits and tabloid rancor continued to ramp up the Stones’ domestic reputation as the anti-Beatles their third covers-heavy long player reflected mod-propelled changing times by shifting its attention from blues to soul. Don Covay’s Mercy Mercy, Marvin Gaye’s Hitch Hike and Sam Cooke’s Good Times find the Stones mastering a fresh discipline.
