Alain Daniélou (4 October 1907 – 27 January 1994) was a French historian, intellectual, musicologist, Indologist, and a noted Western convert to and expert on Shaivite Hinduism. In 1991, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama.

Anthology of Indian Classical Music – A Tribute to Alain Daniélou. This collection was originally recorded by Alain Danielou for the International Music Council (UNESCO) between 1950 and 1955, and was published in 1966.

In 1997 it was digitally re-mastered and issued by AUVIDIS-NAÏVE as a 3-CD set in homage to Alain Daniélou (1907-1994), the prime mover of the legendary UNESCO Collection of Traditional Music. The set includes the first recordings published in the Western world of Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan. In addition to a short biography of Daniélou and his influence on Asian music and cultural heritage, liner notes include detailed explanations of the scales, rhythmic ideas, and instrumentation used in each song
